Friday Flick – Move

No Comments 16 December 2011

This week’s Friday Flick was produced by Rick Mereki (@Rickmereki).  The title of the first of three short films in this series, and this week’s Friday Flick is titled “Move”.  You know how they say “they make it look easy”?  Well, these guys certainly made this flick look easy, but in order to accomplish this, a lot of work and travel had to happen.  Here is what they said about their adventure:

“3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films = a trip of a lifetime.”

Let me know what you think about this flick, and be on the look out for the other two in this series in the following weeks!

Friday Flick – TimeScapes

This week’s Friday Flick is one from Tom Lowe (@timescapes). Lowe has been working on the movie, TimeScapes that creatively captures different environments around the American Southwest.  The amazing cinematography in the trailer below makes me want to purchase the full length movie, and go experience these places in person.  You can find out more information about the movie, TimeScapes at http://timescapes.org/.  Enjoy!

Friday Flick – Stella’s Shasta Adventure

No Comments 02 December 2011

This week’s Friday Flick is another one from Jesse Rosten(@JesseRosten). Rosten is a filmmaker currently based out of Northern California.  Last week I posted a video titles Stella’s Day.  This week’s video is a follow-up titled Stella’s Shasta Adventure.  It’s another “day in the life of” video about Rosten’s pup.  I am very impressed with the quality of his films and the content of these past two videos have left me smiling and quite frankly, wishing I was a pup, enjoy! :-)

Friday Flick – Cart

No Comments 18 November 2011

This week’s Friday Flick is one from Jesse Rosten(@JesseRosten).  Rosten is a  filmmaker currently based out of Northern California.  I came across this video, Cart, a couple of years ago, and I recently thought about it and found it again.  It’s kind of amazing that someone can invoke such emotion using a shopping cart, a blanket, and a story.  Let me know what you think in the comments below!

The MESH – New Stuff

No Comments 26 September 2011

New StuffThis past Friday I had the opportunity to host the first episode of “New Stuff” on TheMESH.tv.

The MESH is a new media online network, designed to produce and deliver unique content to computers, mobile phones, iPods, iPads, and any other device connected to the Internet.  Just like a traditional television network, The MESH has a series of programs and “shows” on a variety of topics… the difference is you can watch or listen to what you want, when you want, and where you want.

On this episode of New Stuff Chad Austin of Chad Austin Marketing and Media Design (www.chadaustin.com), Terry Bledsoe, Chief Information Officer for Catawba County, North Carolina (www.catawbacountync.gov), and Alan Jackson with Jackson Group Interactive(www.jginteractive.com) joined me to talk about social media, technology, mobile devices and other gadgets!  The topics for this first episode include the current status of Google+, recent Facebook announcements, iPhone 5 rumors, and Google Wallet.+

Social Stats

You have probably watched a YouTube video, sent, or at least heard of a tweet on Twitter, know someone that is using Facebook, and maybe even wondered why anyone would “check-in” when they are out and about.  Mashable recently posted an infographic with some great stats about marketing in social media.  These statistics are up-to-date, so this should be very helpful especially if your company is thinking about using social media to reach current and potential customers.  Please feel free to comment below about social media, marketing, or anything else for that matter!
